Gateway jewellery robbery guard passes away
Paramedics have confirmed that the security guard, shot during an armed robbery at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga, has passed away in hospital.
It's understood that about 10 armed suspects entered Damjee Jewellers in the mall and ordered employees to get on the ground on Wednesday.
The gang made off with two trolleys worth of jewellery. They opened fire at the security guard on exit, shooting him in his abdomen. He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
EMER-G-Med confirmed on Friday night he had died in hospital.
