Gateway go-kart facility shut down amid probe into horror incident

Premier has shut down the outdoor go-kart facility at the Gateway Theatre of
Shopping in Umhlanga.

This as it awaits the outcome of an investigation into a horror karting incident at Action Karting that left a teenage girl with life-threatening injuries.
Fifteen-year-old Kristin Govender, who is in ICU, suffered head and spinal injuries and has lost mobility from the waist down.
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has released a statement to say that she's ordered a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

She's called on business owners who run entertainment facilities like these to strictly comply with safety protocols.
The premier also says she's concerned that children who make use of these rides may face a higher risk of injury
