Gale force winds along KZN coast

Weather forecasters have issued an alert for strong gale force winds along the KwaZulu-Natal coast today.
The South African Weather Service's Thandiwe Gumede says they are expected to continue until 6pm tonight.
Gumede says winds speeds could reach up to 80kmph.
"[The strong winds are starting] in Port Edward and extended all the way through to Kosi Bay and surrounding areas.
Gumede says this is due to the cold front sweeping through KwaZulu-Natal.
"The is an alert for gale force winds in a south westerly direction," she said.

Gumede says winds speeds could reach up to 80kmph.
"[The strong winds are starting] in Port Edward and extended all the way through to Kosi Bay and surrounding areas.
Gumede says this is due to the cold front sweeping through KwaZulu-Natal.
There is currently a strong south-westerly breeze of 43kmph in Durban, with gusts of up to 55kmph.

Meanwhile swells at the city's beaches are expected to reach 3.5m this morning.
