Future SA joins the chorus calling for Zuma to step down
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Several civil society organisations have joined hands under the banner of Future South Africa to call on President Jacob Zuma to step down.
The organisation was launched on Monday at the Ahmed Kathrada Auditorium in Johannesburg.
One of the organisation's leaders is former South African ambassador to the US, Sheila Sisulu, who says one of their main aims is to root out state corruption.
"Future South Africa is beyond Jacob Zuma. We must go deeper into this web of corruption to remove all those who have been involved in it. Zuma is the head of state and the buck stops with him."
The organisation has called for a countrywide shutdown on the 8 August from 12pm to 2pm, during the motion of no confidence against President Zuma in the National Assembly.

Sisulu says there are being forced to take action since the ANC is failing to do so.
"If the motion of no confidence fails to remove him, we will continue to find all means possible to remove him. The ANC has failed in its duty to correct its own members. The NEC should have told Zuma he is damaging the image of the organisation," Sisulu says.
