There is a strong police presence outside the Nondlini Sports and Community Centre in Inchanga where the funeral of local SACP leader Nonsikelelo Blose is under way.
40-year-old Blose, who was the secretary of the SACP’s Inchanga branch, was shot three times near a local tavern last Sunday night, leading to unrest in the area.
The past week has seen numerous meetings between the SACP and ANC leaders in the branch - this after on Monday the ANC’s Xolani Mabaso, who was suspected to have killed Blose, was shot and killed during protests in the area.
Former Mayor and SACP leader in the community, James Nxumalo, is expected to attend Blose’s funeral along with the party’s provincial leadership. Mabaso’s funeral is also expected to take place today in Inchanga.
Meanwhile Newswatch has learnt that the ANC’s provincial leaders, Sihle Zikalala and Super Zuma, are in uMgungundlovu participating in the Mandela Marathon.
