Shabalala's close friend - Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse says we must celebrate his legacy rather mourn his death.

"One should not lament but celebrate his passing, in that what I would miss about him is just his body, his presence, but Joseph lived in all of us."

"Joseph lived in all those who heard his music. The great legacy that he has left with his sons and so on and the music that he has made for all these years."
