[FULL CALENDAR] Basic Education publishes updated school calendar
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The Department of Basic Education has published
an amended academic calendar for South African schools for
2021.
The department’s spokesperson Elijah Mahlangu says 13 days of teaching have already been lost this year due to the fact that schools opened their doors later than expected.
Teaching and learning at public schools around the country started late due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"But through revising the calendar we have been able to regain 10 of the 13 days. We are losing three days, but we believe schools will do their best to recover the days that would have been lost," says Mahlangu.
The calendar now has 192 school days with the 2021 academic year coming to an end on 15 December.
