According to CEPPWAWU's Clement Chitja a new commissioners proposal is expected to be tabled while fuel pumps have sporadically run dry in especially Gauteng.

Chitja added that they are not willing to budge a multi-year agreement.

"Our mandates vary and we will see if a deal is brokered today. Members have made it clear that they won't settle for a two year agreement," Chitja told Jacaranda FM News.

He added that they are hoping the employer will table a different offer while the strike continues in some areas.

"In some areas people have returned to work in order to off-set the intimidation of our members," he said.

He said it is not conducive for their members to sign a multi-year agreement in the petroleum sector.
