Fuel price expected to increase in August

Fuel will be more expensive next month, according to the Automobile Association.
Month-end data from the Central Energy Fund shows a price increase of 35 cents a litre for petrol and 72 cents for diesel and illuminating paraffin.
The association's spokesperson Layton Beard the main driver is international oil prices, which he says have escalated steadily throughout the month.

"Easing some of the pressure on fuel prices is the Rand which improved its value against the US Dollar throughout the month.
"The strengthening of the local currency against the Greenback throughout the month is ensuring the expected fuel increases are not higher, but this is not doing enough to avoid the hikes."
