Fuel price decrease unlikely: Economist
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
An economist says despite growing calls from concerned citizens, a fuel price decrease is highly unlikely.

COSATU led the latest public demonstration in KZN. Its members and affiliates blocked the Durban-bound Freeway at the Marianhill Toll Plaza on Friday.
There were massive traffic jams in and around Durban due to multiple go-slows on the city’s main highways.
Economist, Dawie Roodt says we shouldn’t hold our breath.
"Government would have to cut taxes - something it would not do because they would have to increase other forms of taxes.
"So to really decrease fuel prices only two things can be realistically done. The first is to implement the right economic policies and ensure that investor trust is regained. This way the Rand will be stronger and fuel will be cheaper. The second is that we make fuel from coal," Roodt said.
