Fry's temporarily closes factory after employee tests positive for COVID-19

Fry Group Foods - which produces meat-free products - says it's temporarily closed its factory in Westmead Pinetown - after a manager became infected.

The company says it's been in contact with the Health Department and the group's managing director, Caroline Garnett says they found out last week that the employee had tested positive for the respiratory disease.

Garnett says other staff who've been in direct contact with the manager have since been tested and are in self isolation while they wait for their results.

She says the entire facility is in the process of being disinfected.

The group says while they understand consumers may be worried about food safety - the affected worker is currently not involved in food production at the facility.

Earlier this week - Tiger Brands shut its Albany bakery in Durban - after 12 admin staff were confirmed to have COVID-19.
