Suveer Bahudoor’s who has stood in early morning queues for the past two weeks says they were told by staff that they could not process their applications because their systems were offline.

He says he had to take leave from work on several occasions and eventually went to another testing station to apply for a new licence.

"We wait there from around 6 O'Clock in the morning only to be told at about 7 that the system is offline and that there is nothing they can do. It has been very frustrating", he said.

KZN Transport's Mluleki Mntungwa says there are technical issues they are trying to address with IT experts. For now, they are asking applicants to please make their way to other licensing departments.

Mntungwa has meanwhile urged motorists not wait until the last minute to apply for a new licence.

"Our testing stations include those in Pinetown, Rossburgh, Stanger, among others. So motorists will have to use one of those. If you are caught driving without a license or its expired you will be arrested", he said.
