Friend of Sindiso Magaqa feels Umzimkhulu probe too late
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
A close friend of slain Umzimkhulu councillor, Sindiso Magaqa has welcomed the Public Protector's probe into allegations of corruption, maladministration and the misuse of public funds at the Umzimkhulu Municipality but believes it comes a little too late.
"It means people will complain and die afterwards. We act after people die," said Less Sefutha.
Sefutha, who worked with Magaqa, also believes his murder was politically motivated.
Sefutha says the former ANC Youth League secretary general had been looking into claims of corruption at the municipality at the time of his death.

"We can't just say we are happy because there is an investigation because we have lost Magaqa. Magaqa never believed in corruption. He believed that people must not steal from the poor. He said corruption disadvantages the people of uMzimkhulu," he said.
Magaqa and two other councillors were shot and hurt in an ambush in July.
Magaqa died in hospital last month.
