Friday morning crash causes M4 chaos

Traffic was brought to a standstill on the M4 Southern Freeway on Friday morning following a multi-vehicle crash.

Fifteen people were injured in the four-vehicle pile-up on the Durban side after Quality Street.
Garrith Jamieson, who is with ALS Paramedics, said a minibus taxi carrying a full load was also involved.
"More ambulances, as well as advanced life support paramedics, were dispatched by ALS. Approximately 15 people sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care they required.

"At this stage, the events leading up to the collision are unknown. However, SAPS and metro police were in attendance and will be investigating."
Traffic was backed up for more than three kilometres.
