The families walked in mortuary, hand in hand, many hugging each other as they brace for a difficult task at hand.
Shortly after the vehicle transporting the bodies pulled into the premises, an MK member saluted as they moved past.
Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane who made the convoy as it can came into the province was emotional as she addressed the media, stressing the difficulty of the situation.
"This is a disaster that affects all of us, as citizens of Gauteng, as citizens of the province. We don't choose the colour of your political party, we assist all families if a situation like this happens," she said.
