The Fuel Retailers Association says there is no truth to the voice notes doing the rounds on social media - warning that filling stations will not be operational tomorrow - because of a national shutdown.

People Against the Petrol Price Increase has been calling on people to stay away from work and not fill up tomorrow - in protest against the rising fuel prices.

But the Retailer's Association's Reggie Sibiya says petrol stations will be open tomorrow.

"That rumour has no truth to it. It's unfounded. We feel it's actually irresponsible because if you are going to say that our members who are service station owners are going to be shutting down their operations.

"You better have come to us and them to make that arrangement. We and our members, the service station owners, were taken by surprise," Sibiya said.
