Fourth KZN school shut after COVID-19 case

A fourth school in KwaZulu-Natal has temporarily closed its doors after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

Deccan Road Primary in Pietermaritzburg was shut after management was informed of the teacher's test results. 


In a statement released by the school, management says the educator attended classes on Monday. 


The school says, as a precaution, they have asked learners who attended school on Monday to be monitored and seek medical attention or call the School Governing Body if symptoms arise.

The statement says the Health Department has tested all educators and other staff. 


It says the school is in the process of being deep cleaned. 


So far, Durban's Savannah Park Secondary School, Apollo Secondary School and Clairwood Secondary have been closed.
