Four killed in Newcastle crash

Four people have been killed in a crash involving 2 cars in Newcastle.

The collision occurred near the town's industrial area. Provincial medics say one of the vehicles burst into flames and burnt out completely.
KZN Emergency Medical Services' Robert Mckenzie.
"Four people have sustained injuries who were occupants of that vehicle. The paramedics treated one patient, who was the occupant of the second vehicle involved in the crash. This person had sustained several injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital," he said.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, a woman believed to be in her 40s has been killed after being struck by a train in the Tongaat area on the north coast this morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue says she died at the scene.
