Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Four people including two children have been killed after being knocked over by a taxi on the R102 at Mtwalume.
The crash left three other children in a critical condition and several others injured. They have been rushed to Port Shepstone Provincial Hospital.
"It's believed that they were standing on the side of the road when they were hit by a minibus. Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services together with colleagues from several private ambulances have treated three people for critical injuries," KZN EMS' Robert McKenzie said.
RTI spokesperson, Zinhle Mngomezulu says initial details coming out from the accident suggest that two taxis and a bakkie were involved in the crash.
Mngomezulu says it is believed that the taxi crashed into the group of children after trying to avoid a Nissan bakkie that was stationed contraflow on the road.
