Four killed in head-on crash between car and truck near Toti.

Four people have been killed when a heavy goods truck and a car collided head-on on the R603 at the Ilovu township, near Amanzimtoti, on the South Coast, last night.

It is not clear what led to the two vehicles crashing into each other - with the truck having been travelling towards Winklespruit. According to Netcare 911 the impact of the collision was so severe that the truck veered off the road and ploughed through a nearby informal settlement for about 100 metres with the car still trapped underneath it.
The services Chris Botha says all four people killed were occupants of the car.
"When we arrived there we found that there were 4 males who were still trapped inside the car. Three of them had tragically died before our arrival," he said.
"I started working on a fourth person who was alive, but tragically before we could get him out of the vehicle, he passed on due to the very sever injuries he had sustained," Botha said.
"The SAPS were on scene and they are busy investigating the cause of this accident," he said.
