Four dead in Midlands mass shooting, suspect arrested

A 33-year-old man is in police custody following a shooting in the Midlands in which four people were killed.

Four people were shot and killed on Wednesday night when a man opened fire on seven people in Creighton, Midlands.
According to police, a gunman randomly opened fire on a group of people near a car wash in Creighton last night.
One of them was wounded and taken to hospital, while two others escaped unharmed.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the suspect was found some 40 km away from the murder scene.
"Creighton detectives worked around the clock, searching for the suspect involved in the murders. They followed all possible leads, and in the early hours of this morning, the suspect was traced to the Ixopo area.
"The man has been detained on charges of murder and attempted murder. Further investigations are still ongoing, and the motive for the attack is yet to be established. He is due to appear in the Hlanganani Magistrate's Court soon."
