The Pietermaritzburg High Court has handed life terms to four convicted murderers for two murders and a rape in the Esikhaleni area in 2015.

In January 2015, the suspects robbed and killed a shop owner. In the second incident, the men then approached a couple sitting in a vehicle where a 35-year-old man was shot dead. His girlfriend was kidnapped and raped.
They fled the scene with money and a cellphone.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man who was found dead at a home in Grange in Verulam.
Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says officers were called out to the home on Saturday night.
"On their arrival, there was a sixty-year-old man who found dead in the garage and the cause of the death is still unknown at this stage.
"We are still waiting for the post-mortem results that will guide us as to what really happened to the man. We have opened a case of inquest for further investigation," Zwane said.
