Four civilians injured in Mariannhill shooting

Four bystanders are recovering in hospital after being caught in the middle of a shootout between suspected cash-in-transit robbers and police in Mariannhill.
Two suspects were also arrested during the shootout.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the armed suspects robbed guards of money they were about to transport from a business in Chestnut Crescent yesterday.
"When the security guard was approaching the cash-in-transit vehicle, the suspects fired shots in the air. They took the cashbox with an undisclosed fled the scene in their getaway Mini Cooper," she says.

Gwala says the suspects then tried to flee the scene but a shootout with the Durban task Force ensued.
"The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby bushes and members chased them. Two suspects were apprehended," she says.
