Four arrested for looting at Melmoth protest

Four suspects have been nabbed, after a truck carrying mattresses was looted during a protest in Melmoth, in northern KZN.

On Friday morning, residents blocked a road in Emalangeni with burning tyres and stones.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the protestors then turned their attention to a truck loaded with new mattresses.

"Police managed to recover some of the stolen mattresses. Four suspects were arrested for stolen property and public violence and they are expected to appear before the Melmoth Magistrate court 6 November.
"Police are in the scene to monitor and stabilise the situation and the traffic."
