Former Mpumalanga Premier appointed as Chair of the NCOP

The ANC's Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane has been elected as the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

The role was previously held by Amos Masondo in the 6th administration.
Mtsweni-Tsipanane is also the former Premier of Mpumalanga.
She was elected unopposed during the NCOP’s first sitting in Cape Town and vowed to perform her duties in line with the constitution.
