Former football star receives financial help to assist cancer battle

Former Banyana Banyana player, Makhosi Luthuli has received funding from a local Durban businessman to assist her financially as she battles cancer.
Luthuli has been suffering from a form of cancer for around six years that has seen her develop a tumour on her face, affecting her respiratory tract.
As a result, the 45-year-old battles to breath.
Luthuli approached eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede for assistance.
The mayor then contacted businesspeople to help raise funds to cover Luthuli's medical costs.
Sandile Zungu, the executive chairperson of the Zungu Investments Company, stepped up and donated money through the Zodwa Zungu Foundation towards Luthuli's medical bills.
The money was donated to Gumede's Light of Ubuntu NPC, commonly known as the Mama Zandile Gumede Foundation, which the mayor serves a patron.
On Saturday, Luthuli received a R100,000 cheque that will go towards her medical bills.
The donation was made at the Durban ICC.
