He addressed a crowd on Thursday that has converged on People's Park in Durban for a prayer to welcome former president Jacob Zuma home from prison.

Khanyile says some South African media, particularly white-owned outlets, seek to oppress the African narrative if told by an African like Zuma.

"Anyone in this country who stands on the agenda of Black people that person is traumatised. That person will be subjected to mass media propaganda. That person will be subjected to concocted legal charges.

"Look at what they are going to, mama Dudu Myeni, look at what they are doing to mama Bathabile Dlamini, look at what they are going to comrade Ace Magashule. Look at what they have gone to, president Zuma."

Khanyile is accused of being one of the instigators of the civil unrest after being captured on video in July, allegedly inciting violence at Warwick Avenue in Durban.

He's currently out on bail.
