Foot and mouth disease: Alert for KZN farmers
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Agriculture officials have urged KwaZulu-Natal farmers to take precautionary measures in the wake of an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Limpopo.
More than 15 000 cattle in Vhembe district have been affected and the area's under quarantine.
The department's Khaye Nkwanyana says farmers in KwaZulu-Natal should keep a close watch on their livestock.
"We are going to work together with the industry - to clarify and explain these matters and engage them - including the issues of market gaps. We think that this will take us forward.
"We remain engaged in all interventions including vaccination processes," Nkwanyana said.
