KZN and the Eastern Cape form part of the final leg of the research.
The HSRC's Dr Thokozani Simelane says households across KZN's 11 districts will be surveyed.
"These census of food we'll try to establish as to what people are eating, how many times do they eat, are people producing their own food who buying it from the superstore. And if so we will also try to establish if the food that people are eating at households in the province is new nutritional to give them the first status of health.”
