KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala says the recent deadly floods have pushed government to fast-track its plans to ensure that people live in safe and dignified homes.
He was speaking at the funeral of six family members who died during the floods earlier this month.
The funeral took place on Saturday at Siyanda Sports Field in Sweet Waters.
Grandmother Slindile Mdlalose, her four children and five grandchildren, were sleeping when their home was hit by mudslides which washed them away into the overflowing uMzinyathi River.
