Flooding damages some 20 homes in Umgungudlovu

Disaster teams say 26 homes have been destroyed or partially damaged by heavy rains that lashed the Umngungudlovu and Harry Gwala districts this week.
Flash flooding was also reported in parts of Pietermaritzburg.
The wet weather has been sweeping across KZN after two weeks of scorching heat.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the western and central parts.

The Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN says it's working with uMsunduzi to provide assistance to those affected.
The department's Siboniso Mngadi says they've received calls for help from the Imbali and Henley areas.
"Our disaster team has provided the disaster relief material to the affected families; our teams are also conducting damage assessment within the area of Umzimkhulu."
He says MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi has requested help from other departments.
"The department has activated other sister departments, such as Social Development and Human Settlements, that will render their services, especially to those who have lost their identity documents."
