Flabba killer Sindisiwe Manqele out on parole
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Sindisiwe Manqele, who was found guilty of murdering her rap star boyfriend Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, is out on parole.
The Department of Correctional Services confirmed Manqele's release, six years into serving her sentence.
Manqele fatally stabbed Habedi during a fight after a boozy night out in March 2015.
The rap star of Skwatta Kamp fame died at his home in Alexandra.
Manqele claimed she acted in self-defence.
In 2016, she was sentenced to 12 years for the muso's death - a year after the news of his stabbing gripped the country.
Manqele made headlines again in 2018 when she graduated behind bars.
The department's spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said Manqele's parole took effect on Tuesday, adding the decision was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole board after assessing her profile.
"It is therefore critical to highlight that parole placement for Miss Manqele is not the end of her sentence as she will be expected to complete the remainder of her sentence in the system of community corrections whereby she is expected to comply with the specific set of conditions."
Nxumalo added Manqele will also be subject to supervision until her sentence expires in May 2028.
