Five SANDF soldiers killed in crash

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has confirmed the deaths of five soldiers in a car crash on the R582 near Komatipoort in Mpumalanga.
The five were killed in a crash on Saturday.
SANDF spokesperson Andries Mahapa says the driver lost control after the front tyre burst.
It then collided with a tree.
The members were travelling from Zonstral to Macademia Operational Base along the Coopersdal.

Mahapa says all five were declared dead on the scene.
“Members were part of 9 South African Infantry Battalion (9 SAI BN) that is deployed under Operation CORONA Border Safegurding in Mpumalanga Province.
“The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise, the Chief of the South African Defence Force, members of the military command Council, and the SANDF as a whole is bereaved by the passing of these patriotic soldiers and convey their sincere condolence to the families of the deceased.”
