Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
Five new cases of foot and mouth disease have been detected in KwaZulu-Natal over the past week.

The Agriculture Department's Reggie Ngcobo says nationally there are 11 new infections in three provinces, five in both KZN and the Free State and one in Gauteng.
"These new cases were likely already on the farms at the time when the standstill was initiated and some are neighbours of already infected property with contagious spread."
