Five killed in PMB taxi crash, driver behind bars

taxi driver is behind bars after five of his passenger were killed when he
crashed his minibus in Pietermaritzburg.
The Department of Transport in KZN says the man lost control of the vehicle on Sunday while trying to negotiate a bend on the M70 in Edendale.
It was later discovered the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
He's facing charges of culpable homicide.
Other occupants of the minibus taxi were also hurt.
In northern KZN, a bus overturned in Jozini on Sunday, killing one passenger and injuring 26.
It had been ferrying a wedding party to Phongolo.

KZN Transport's Kwanele Ncalane says road regulations need to be tightened.
"MEC Hlomuka says these accidents are avoidable. In all the accidents that happened in the recent past, it's clear that motorists and drivers are responsible and we call on all of them to take on responsibility and respect all traffic regulations."
