Five DUT students arrested for public violence

Five Durban University of Technology (DUT) students have been arrested following a violent protest at the Steve Biko campus.

The protest was over historical debt - which students want scrapped.

Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says they appeared at the Durban Magistrate's Court today on charges of public violence.
"This is after the incident that took place where about a hundred students stoned the windows in the main building in one of the buildings at DUT," she say.
