Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Five young children have been killed and four others injured after a truck crashed into a school in Potchefstroom in North West.
The vehicle ploughed through the fence and landed in a parking lot on Thursday afternoon.
ER24's Russel Meiring says paramedics found three of the children lying underneath the truck.
He says the victims are aged between seven and 11.
"Medics quickly assessed the patients and found four children had shown no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were later declared dead."

"Three other children were in critical condition, while two others had severe injuries. Medics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support.
"Unfortunately, after a short time, one critically injured child succumbed to their injuries. Once treated, medics transported the three other children to a nearby hospital for urgent care. The driver of the truck escaped injury."
