Five arrested after Empangeni water supply protest action

Five suspects are appearing in court on public violence charges linked to a protest in eMpangeni, near Richards Bay.

Water supply issues are said to be the problem leading up to the protest.
Residents who protested in eMadlankala area yesterday, say they haven't had running water for a week.

KZN SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says, "The group of people embarked on a protest and blocked the road. Police arrested five suspects for public violence."
They will appear at the Esikhawini Magistrate's Court.
