First batch of Pfizer vaccines lands in the country

Health Minister, Dr. Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that 325 260 doses landed at OR Tambo International Airport just before midnight.
Upon arrival they were transported to a central warehouse.
Mkhize says following this batch, government expects the same amount of doses to arrive weekly, totaling 1,3 million by the end of the month.
"Thereafter, the vaccine supply will increase to an average of 636,480 doses weekly from 31 May, which will see us accumulating close to 4.5 million doses by the end of June,” Mkhize said.
Meanwhile the department has also confirmed 1222 new infections across the country.
There were also 11 deaths reported.
KZN remains the province with the highest number of active cases with just over 5300.
The national recovery rate remains at 95 percent.
