UPDATE: Lion's Head fire brought under control
Updated | By Heart FM News and ECR Newswatch
The devastating fire that's spread across the slopes of Cape Town's iconic Lion's Head - has been contained.
The City of Cape Town has confirmed that the Signal Hill fire has been brought under control.
City bosses say a significant drop in the wind speed made firefighting efforts easier.
"The City's Fire and Rescue Service remained on scene at the Signal Hill Fire throughout the night - mostly monitoring and dealing with hotspots. There has been no damage to any property and no injuries reported.
"This morning we have two helicopters waterbombing the area," Cape Town Fire and Rescue's Theo Layne said.

Philip Prins, Table Mountain National Park fire manager, said in a video posted on Twitter last night that, at that time, the flames had been burning for hours.
"We are still battling the fire on Lions Head which started approximately at 4pm [yesterday] afternoon. When we received a call from a member of the public, we dispatched all available resources. At this stage, there are no buildings or residents in danger," Prins said.
News24 has reported late last night that residents have been evacuating their homes near Quarry Hill, as a precaution.

The fire on Lions Head left me with a lump on my throat this evening as I drove around documenting someone else’s complete stupidity. How can anyone be so selfish?! #CapeTownFire pic.twitter.com/UIhW1rXgop
