Fire guts Phoenix Secondary School’s library

KZN education authorities on Wednesday made their way to Durban's Phoenix Secondary School which has been partially damaged by fire last night.

It's understood this morning's blaze gutted the school library and part of the admin block where textbooks and stationery were being stored.

Arson is suspected after two people were allegedly seen by locals jumping the school fence shortly after the fire started.
“So, we have been told or at least the report we got from school is that the classes are not burnt, meaning our learners will be in class," said KZN Education MEC Mbali Frazer.
“Unfortunately, with some of the resources that are needed, as the department we will be there to support. The district director will immediately go there to try check what is it that we can try and assist with.”
