Fire guts 250 homes at Clare Estate settlement

eThekwini Fire is investigating the cause of an inferno that
gutted around 250 homes at an informal settlement in Clare Estate.
Emergency teams battled the flames for hours, after it broke out early on Sunday morning.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
The municipality's Msawakhe Mayisela says disaster management teams offering assistance to those who lost their homes.

"We would like to appeal to our residents to be mindful that our city is prone to fires, especially during winter in informal settlements.
"They should know the basics. Teach the children to respect fire and as adults use fire responsibly. By doing we so we will go a long way to minimise incidents of fires."
