Fire breaks out in SABC canteen, building evacuated
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
SABC employees have been evacuated from the Radio Park building in Auckland Park after a fire broke out in a canteen.

Spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu says the fire has been extinguished.
"Employees were evacuated out of the building as a precautionary measure and at this stage we are just waiting for an assessment to be done to tell us whether employees can go back into the building. There were some employees that needed medical attention," Mthembu.
ER24 paramedics say 15 people have been treated and taken to hospital. Medics say some received treatment for mild smoke inhalation, whilst others sustained burn wounds.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
This is the second fire at the building in as many months. In May, a diesel spillage also led to a fire and evacuation.
