Fire alarm causes panic at King Shaka

King Shaka International Airport says there was no interruption to operations and no one was hurt after a fire alarm went off in the airport.

In a statement, Airports Company South Africa says their systems picked up the activation of smoke sensors in one of the airport's retail shops on Friday.
ACSA regional general manager Nkosinathi Myataza says the system was activated in line with the detection of fire in a specific zone.

"We would like to express our sincere apologies to all our passengers and visitors for the inconvenience and necessary concerns that might have given rise.
"We urge our passengers to continue observing all protocols while visiting our airports."
