Final state capture report to be handed over on Wednesday

The final report of the commission of inquiry into state capture will be handed over on Wednesday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will receive the report at the Union Buildings in the afternoon. 


The fifth report is also the final one after the inquiry was instituted by former president Jacob Zuma in 2018. 


Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the office will publish the final report shortly after it is presented to Ramaphosa. 


“President Ramaphosa has thus far received Part One to Part Four of the reports. The first part of the report was handed over to the President by the Chief Justice on 4 January 2022."

“The second, third and fourth reports were handed over on 1 February 2022, 1 March 2022 and 29 April 2022 respectively to Director-General in The Presidency, Ms Phindile Baleni.” 


This report will bring to finality four years of interviews with various witnesses. 


To date, 278 witnesses have been interviewed, with five extensions granted to then Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
