Final preparations as Comrades 2018 draws near

Thousands of runners are beginning to make their way to KZN for the 2018 instalment of the Comrades Marathon.
This year's 'down run' starts outside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and will end at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium on the Durban beachfront.
More than 21 000 athletes are expected to take part in this year's race. Tourism KZN says the province is ready to accommodate all those coming to KwaZulu-Natal for the event.
The 2018 edition of the Comrades Marathon will finish at the Moses Mabhida Stadium for the first time. It's also the largest entry field since the millennium race.
About 21 200 people will begin the gruelling journey at 5.30 on Sunday morning. Tourism KZN says the race is expected to pump R700-million in the provincial economy.

The tourism body is also hopeful the international athletes taking part in Comrades 2018 and their supporters will use the opportunity to further explore KZN's hospitality options and offerings.
1430 international runners will put their takkies to the tarmac this weekend - that's 370 more than last year.
