Final farewells for former UDF leader, Mewallal Ramgobin

Struggle icon and former United Democratic Front leader, Mewallal Ramgobin will be laid to rest at the Mount View Civic Centre in Verulam this afternoon.
President Jacob Zuma yesterday announced that Ramgobin would receive a Special Provincial Official Funeral.
Zuma also said the national flag should be flown at half-mast today out of respect for the anti-apartheid activist.
Ramgobin openly campaigned for the release of Nelson Mandela.
The Presidency's Bongani Ngqulunga described Ramgobin as a true South African hero.
"He was born at Inanda and was married to Mahatma Ghandi's great-granddaughter, Ella. So, he spent a lot of his in KZN includin political activities," he said.
