Final day for public opinion on liquor act
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya

The Department of Trade and Industry has proposed amendments to the Act of 2003 which will place responsibility on establishments that serve alcohol for the actions of intoxicated customers.
Underwriting specialist Simon Colman says while the act is noble, he does not believe the proposed amendment has been well thought-out or sufficiently debated.
He thinks it puts an unfair and heavy burden on these establishments.
"How an we expect bartenders, waiters, restaurant owners to know when somebody's had too much to drink and to then stop them from drinking? How do they know who's driving?
"Who's using a cab or who came in their own car? What about people that buy alcohol in shops and drink it all at home or somewhere else?" he said.
