Meanwhile, 15 people have been hurt following a taxi crash in Klaarwater Road in the Shallcross area - near Chatsworth - south of Durban.

Reports from the scene suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.

"The taxi had somehow left the road and crashed into a residential area. People had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on scene before being transported to various hospitals for the further care that they required. The cause of the collision is unknown at this stage. Police were in attendance and will be investigating further," Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says.
