Father of ‘kidnapped’ KZN teen to hear bail fate next week

There are calls for the father of a 14-year-old girl north coast girl who disappeared last week to remain behind bars.

Residents picketed outside the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the 43-year-old man made a brief appearance.
He claimed to police that his daughter had been kidnapped from her school in Isinembe last week Monday.
The girl was found by detectives on Friday and arrested a 23-year-old man.

The undocumented migrant faces charges of statutory rape and violating immigration laws.
The father was taken into custody on Monday on multiple charges including human trafficking.
He's expected to apply for bail next week.
Mayor Lindile Nhaca was among a group that protested at court.
"Next week on the 19th the matter is going to court we'll also go there to support the 14-year-old child, to say no to women and children abuse."
